The state Senate has called a meeting Wednesday evening to possibly vote on a plan that will raise teacher pay raises. 

A plan to hike taxes on tobacco, alcohol, fuel and energy production in order to plug a hole in Oklahoma's budget and to stabilize state spending has fallen five votes short in the House amid bipartisan opposition.

The governor and other Republican leaders held a press conference Monday announcing a budget agreement. But the numbers don’t add up, the votes don’t appear to be there to pass it, and the governor is refusing to answer questions about it.

Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin is calling lawmakers to the state Capitol for a special legislative session to fill a $215 million state budget shortfall after the state Supreme Court overturned a $1.50 per pack fee on cigarettes.  

A plan to take money from the fund to repair roads and bridges and use it to patch part of the state’s budget hole passes in the state Senate, but it includes a plan to raise the gas and diesel tax, something Democrats have vowed to block.

The governor delivered her annual State of the State address, along with a budget plan that includes raising taxes.
